Description
The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking to establish a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for goat grazing vegetation management services. The contractor will provide vegetation management in the form of goat and/or sheep grazing for the Bureau of Reclamation's lands in California. The BPA will have a maximum value of $500,000 per year, with a total of $2,500,000 for five years. The contractor will be responsible for reducing the fuel load in the wildland-urban interface (WUI) by managing regrowth of annual grasses, ladder fuels, and woody understory regrowth. The contractor will also be required to provide monthly invoices, maps, and geospatial data, as well as before and after photos of the treated areas. Some key points include:
• The contractor will use prescribed goat grazing to maintain shaded fuel breaks (SFBs) at their prescribed vegetation level.
• The contractor will avoid placing animals in previously established buffer zones around environmentally sensitive areas.
• The contractor will use the highest appropriate stocking density to achieve uniform utilization of the targeted vegetation.
• The contractor will post signs warning the public of the danger of electric fences and unleashed guard animals.
• The contractor will provide photo documentation to illustrate compliance in approximately 5-10 acre-areas completed as work progresses.
