Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a qualified Architect/Engineer (A/E) firm to provide professional design and engineering services for the replacement of cooling system components at the White River Junction VA Medical Center (WRJVAMC) in Vermont. The project involves replacing two water-cooled multi-stack modular chillers, one cooling tower, and associated equipment. The A/E firm will be responsible for providing design, procurement, and construction phase services, including conducting site investigation visits, assessing existing conditions, and developing a construction phasing plan to minimize disruptions to WRJVAMC operations during construction and commissioning activities. The firm will also be required to provide cost estimation services, infection control risk assessment, and commissioning services. Some key points to consider are: • The A/E firm must demonstrate expertise in the design and engineering of healthcare facilities, particularly in HVAC infrastructure. • The firm must have experience in providing Construction Period Services for hospital facilities, especially in HVAC renovation projects. • The project requires a high level of coordination with VA staff, including regular meetings and progress updates. • The A/E firm must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and have a valid NAICS code of 541330. • The project is set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) concerns.

Budget estimate

$3,000,000 – $4,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the magnitude of construction, which is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Considering the scope of work, including the replacement of chillers, cooling towers, and associated equipment, as well as the provision of design, procurement, and construction phase services, the budget is likely to be on the higher end of this range. A reasonable estimate for the budget would be around $3,000,000 to $4,000,000. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the project, the level of expertise required, and the location of the project.
