Description
The South Dakota Department of Transportation seeks a qualified researcher or consulting firm to conduct a 15‑month study evaluating non‑destructive testing (NDT) technologies for highway‑structure inspections. The work focuses on two high‑priority challenges: detecting voids adjacent to buried structures and identifying deck delamination on bridges. The contractor will perform a literature review, a survey of other State DOTs, rate and rank NDT methods, conduct virtual interviews with SDDOT staff, and produce a guidance document with recommendations, technical memoranda, and an executive presentation. Deliverables include quarterly progress reports, technical memoranda for panel review, a final report, and a presentation to the SDDOT Research Review Board. The total award value is $75,000, paid in three milestones (40 % after Task 6, 30 % after Task 9, and the remaining 30 % upon final deliverables).
• Conduct comprehensive literature review and statewide survey of NDT practices.
• Develop rating methodology and produce a guidance document recommending optimal NDT solutions for void and deck‑delamination detection.
• Deliver technical memoranda, final report, and executive presentation; comply with Section 508/WCAG accessibility standards.
