Description
The NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) is seeking to evaluate Teledyne Energy Systems, Inc.'s (TESI) ejector-driven reactant fuel cell technology in a modified hydrogen electric power system (mHEPS) configuration. The mHEPS will be used to support NASA's Regenerative Fuel Cell (RFC) Project, which aims to advance an energy storage architecture that can sustain human presence on the lunar surface. The project involves modifying TESI's Hydrogen Electrical Power System to support independent operation at NASA GRC, with a target goal of increasing the discharge power to greater than 1 kW. The project will be completed in four phases: program initiation and kick-off, HEPS power increase and subsystem modifications, documentation and standard operating procedure development, and delivery, on-site training, and NASA test support.
• The project requires the modification of the coolant subsystem, reactant supply subsystem, electrical load interface, and controls subsystem.
• The project involves the development of a comprehensive standard operating procedure (SOP) for the mHEPS.
• The project requires the delivery of the mHEPS, SOP, and associated documentation to NASA GRC.
• The project involves on-site training and remote testing support.
