Desert Conservation Program

The Desert Conservation Program aims to protect, preserve, and restore the natural, cultural, and physical resources of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts region in California. The program includes actions such as acquiring, restoring, and managing lands, promoting biological diversity, and enhancing public use and enjoyment of public lands. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, public agencies, and tribal governments. The program has a continuous submission deadline, and the expected award announcement is also continuous. The period of performance is until June 30, 2027. • Eligible projects include acquisition of land, restoration of riparian and upland vegetation, invasive plant removal and control, seed collection, processing, and propagation, and scientific studies. • Eligible entities include federal and state agencies, local public agencies, tribal entities, and non-profits with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. • The program has a matching funding requirement, but cost share is not required. • The total estimated available funding is dependent on various factors, and the expected number of awards is also dependent.
