Description

The County of Maui Police Department is seeking a qualified vendor to design, supply, install, integrate, train, and provide multi‑year support for a station‑based, autonomous Drone‑as‑First‑Responder (DFR) system. The solution must include docked launch stations, unmanned aircraft, software for autonomous dispatch, live video/telemetry streaming, and seamless integration with the department’s Motorola CommandCentral Aware platform. The contract will start with four docked stations in year 1 and may expand by four stations each subsequent year, up to twenty stations over a five‑year term (one base year plus four optional one‑year extensions). The vendor must handle FAA compliance, data security (CJIS), training for pilots and operators, 24/7 support, and equipment refresh.

Budget estimate

$750,000 – $1,500,000

No firm price is disclosed. Based on typical costs for autonomous drone stations (approximately $150,000–$200,000 per docked station including aircraft, launch hardware, and initial installation) plus annual software, connectivity, and support fees (~$30,000–$50,000 per station), the base‑year deployment of four stations would likely cost between $600,000 and $1,000,000. Adding four optional years (each adding up to four stations) could bring the total five‑year program value to roughly $1.5 million to $2.5 million, depending on optional equipment, price concessions, and the extent of support contracts. Therefore, a reasonable estimate for the contract award range is $750,000 – $1,500,000.
