The City of Austin is seeking a contractor to provide a trained leak‑detection dog and qualified handler(s) to locate underground water and wastewater leaks, supporting Austin Water’s loss‑control program. The contract is a 24‑month initial term with up‑to‑three optional 12‑month extensions, and the contractor must supply the dog, handler, veterinary records, reporting, and on‑call availability for routine and emergency surveys. • Provide a certified leak‑detection dog trained for potable‑water and wastewater systems • Qualified handler with ≥2 years experience on the specific dog • Conduct field surveys, mark suspected leaks, and submit detailed electronic reports within 5 business days • Maintain dog health, safety, and compliance with OSHA, animal‑welfare, and City regulations • Offer standby services on an as‑needed basis, respond to City scheduling, and support emergency calls • Contract value expected to be in the low‑to‑mid six‑figure range, with discounts for local/small businesses.
