Description
The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) is seeking proposals from qualified engineering firms to provide complete design services for the installation of a grit removal system at the ACUA’s City Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project aims to address the issue of excessive grit carryover to the primary settling tanks, which results in equipment wear and consumes capacity in the solids handling system. The selected engineering firm will be responsible for designing a complete grit removal system and other modifications necessary to integrate with the existing wastewater treatment plant system. The scope of work includes meeting attendance, grit evaluation, technology evaluation, design development, permitting, and construction documents.
• The project requires the design of a complete grit removal system and other modifications as necessary to integrate with the existing wastewater treatment plant system.
• The selected engineering firm will be responsible for performing a grit study, facility walk-through, sampling, and lab analysis to determine the best option for grit removal.
• The firm will also be required to evaluate three alternatives for grit removal, dewatering, pumping, conveyance, and container disposal.
• The project includes a one-year contract with a not-to-exceed budget, and the selected firm will be required to sign a contract with the ACUA.
• The ACUA is committed to being financially prudent and environmentally responsible, and the selected firm will be expected to work within these guidelines.
