DoW Reconstructive Transplant, Investigator-Initiated Research Award

The FY26 Reconstructive Transplant Research Program (RTRP) Investigator‑Initiated Research Award provides up to $1 M per award to support innovative basic, translational, or pre‑clinical research related to vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) and associated immunology, preservation, biomarkers, and outcome measurement. Eight awards are expected, each with a maximum three‑year performance period. Projects must demonstrate solid scientific rationale, include preliminary data, and have clear military relevance to service‑member or veteran health. Clinical trials are excluded; however, studies may use human anatomical specimens or involve human subjects under strict regulatory oversight. Applications require a pre‑application (Letter of Intent) due 21 Oct 2026 and a full application due 4 Nov 2026.
