This Funding Opportunity Notice (NOFO) provides up to $3 million in cooperative‑agreement funding for the 2026 Special Attorneys Program. The program enables state, local, tribal, and territorial prosecuting agencies to assign or hire qualified prosecutors, criminal investigators, forensic accountants, analysts, and related staff as “cross‑designated” Special Attorneys or Special Assistant United States Attorneys. Participants remain employees of their home agencies while working on fraud, drug, human‑trafficking, and other crimes committed by criminal aliens, with coordination from the National Fraud Enforcement Division, Criminal Division, and U.S. Attorney’s Offices.
