Description

Los Alamos National Laboratory is offering its proprietary 3‑D‑printed siloxane composite “SiloGetter,” a hydrogen‑getter material that can be printed into custom shapes with up to 50 % active getter loading, providing >80 % hydrogen absorption efficiency. The technology uses a palladium‑on‑carbon catalyst and DEB compound dispersed in a gas‑permeable siloxane polymer, printable through 400‑micron nozzles without clogging, and retains mechanical strength after curing. Target markets include microelectronics packaging, ultra‑high‑vacuum scientific instrumentation, and aerospace metal components exposed to hydrogen. Interested parties can license the technology under exclusive or non‑exclusive agreements; no external development services are being solicited.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

No payment amount is disclosed. Licensing a novel materials technology such as SiloGetter typically involves an upfront licensing fee plus possible royalty payments. For a niche high‑performance hydrogen getter, a reasonable estimate would be a one‑time fee in the low six‑figure range with potential royalties that could bring total compensation to mid‑six figures over the contract term. Therefore, an estimated range of $100,000 – $500,000 is plausible, depending on the scope of the license (exclusive vs. non‑exclusive) and the anticipated market volume.
