ERIS Shopping Notice: High Duty Cycle High Energy Lasers (HEL) for SWaP-Constrained Systems

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is seeking innovative solutions for high-energy lasers that can be operated at high duty cycle in SWaP-constrained systems. The agency is looking for solutions that can address the need for moderate power (1-20 kW) high-energy lasers that can be used in systems such as Stryker vehicles or Collaborative Combat Aircraft. The solutions should demonstrate strength in areas such as defining the problem and current state of the art, advancing the state of the art, team capability, and impact. Some key points to consider: • The solutions should be able to scale to 1-20 kW and discuss scaling, cooling architectures, wavelength flexibility, coherence, and other meaningful trades. • The solutions should demonstrate a deep understanding of the problem space and clearly define the scope of the technical challenge. • The solutions should offer a significant technical leap forward and clearly articulate how they overcome the limitations of existing solutions. • The solutions should demonstrate a clear potential to impact SWaP limited tactical high-energy laser systems, such as systems designed for armored personnel carriers and UAVs.
