Description
The Mississippi Department of Education is seeking qualified fresh‑produce distributors to supply, store, and deliver a statewide roster of schools and child‑nutrition sites. The contract is a fixed‑fee per case plus market‑based produce cost, with weekly deliveries, temperature‑controlled handling, and electronic order processing. Performance is measured by order‑fill rates, delivery timing, and product shelf‑life compliance, and the base term runs for two years with a one‑year renewal option.
• Supply and deliver a catalog of 41 fresh‑produce items (whole, pre‑cut, and limited “additional” items) to schools statewide on a weekly schedule.
• Maintain USDA‑compliant refrigerated warehousing, HACCP food‑safety plan, and a current Food Warehouse certificate.
• Provide automated order receipt via MDE’s MAPS system, submit monthly usage reports, and meet service‑level targets of ≥ 99 % order fill and on‑time delivery.
• Follow the fixed‑fee schedule (ranging $1.50–$8.50 per case) plus actual produce cost; handle breakage fees and optional “Harvest‑of‑the‑Month” items.
