Description
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking a sole source provider for the NFA Basic Remote Pilot Course Program. The program aims to provide Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) training and management services to the National Fire Academy (NFA). The training program is designed to be discipline-agnostic, ensuring relevance for various personnel, including structural fire, wildland fire, search and rescue, HAZMAT, EMS, and law enforcement. The program will expand access to high-quality UAS training, foster interagency collaboration, and establish a foundation for the future growth of the NWCG pilot workforce.
• The program is built on the Interagency Aviation Training (IAT) A-450 framework and incorporates the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) UAS proficiency standards.
• The Colorado Center of Excellence for Advanced Technology Aerial Firefighting is the only source that can provide this UAS training program and support services.
• Capability statements are due by 4:00 PM Eastern, 21 AUG 2026, and should be submitted by email only as a MS Word or Adobe PDF attachment to James Suerdieck.
