Liquid Aluminum Sulfate

The City of Santa Cruz Water Department is soliciting bids for liquid aluminum sulfate (alum) to use for water treatment. The city typically places orders every 1-2 weeks in lots between 4,000 - 5,000 gallons and orders approximately 300 tons, dry basis, aluminum sulfate in solution annually. The successful bidder will provide the services outlined in the specifications, including delivery of the liquid alum to the Graham Hill Water Treatment Plant. The contract will be for a term of 1 year with the option of two 1-year term extensions. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informality or minor defects in bids received. • The liquid alum must meet the specifications of the American National Standard Institute/National Sanitation Foundation Standard 60 (ANSI/NSF 60) and equal in quality to the standards prescribed by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Specifications Number B403-16. • The vendor must provide a certificate of analysis for each load of liquid alum. • The vendor must provide safety data sheets (SDS) for every product delivered. • The vendor must comply with all State, Federal, and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) safety regulations. • The vendor must provide training to city staff on the safe handling and use of liquid alum and emergency procedures in the event of a leak or spill.
