Description

The City of Redding is seeking a qualified contractor to perform an off‑site overhaul of two Sulzer boiler‑feed water pumps, their associated WEG electric motors, and two Fisher recirculation valves with actuators. All disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair/re‑conditioning, dynamic balancing, hydro‑static testing, industrial coating, and documentation will be done at the contractor’s shop; the City will handle removal and re‑installation on‑site, with a Technical Field Advisor (TFA) from the contractor providing supervision only. The scope also includes shipping logistics, spare‑parts advisory, and a warranty of at least 12 months post‑commissioning. • Receive, document, and fully disassemble each pump, motor, and valve; perform detailed inspections, dye‑penetrant testing, and repair/replacement of shafts, impellers, bearings, seals, and other wear components. • Conduct dynamic balancing to API standards, hydro‑static and mechanical testing, abrasive‑blast cleaning, and apply matching industrial coating. • Provide comprehensive As‑Found/As‑Left reports, spare‑parts lists, and final project documentation; supply on‑site TFA supervision during removal, installation, alignment, and commissioning. • Manage all shipping, carrier insurance, and logistics; secure required bonds and maintain specified insurance coverage.

Budget estimate

$400,000 – $900,000

Based on typical costs for complete shop overhauls of 300 hp industrial motors, 6‑stage centrifugal pumps, and associated valve refurbishment, each pump‑motor package can run $200‑300 k, plus $50‑80 k for valve work and logistics. Adding engineering, TFA supervision, bonds, and warranty support, the total contract value is likely in the $400 k‑$900 k range. Larger firms with extensive shop capabilities may command the higher end, while smaller specialists could be competitive at the lower end.
