DMF Municipal Fish Passage Restoration Grant

The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) is seeking proposals from municipalities for projects that will sustain or improve migratory passageways for diadromous fish in Massachusetts. The DMF has maintained a Diadromous Fish Restoration Priority List to guide decisions for restoration planning, and the ranking of projects in this list will be the most influential factor for project selection. Proposals should be for construction costs for small fishway projects, and the DMF will consider a wide range of restoration options, including dam removal proposals. The RFR seeks proposals in the range of $10,000 to $75,000 that can be executed and completed within a given fiscal year. • The DMF Diadromous Fish GIS Data Layer is available for review and consultation. • Proposals should include information on project readiness, property owner match, and cost/benefit considerations. • The evaluation criteria will include the Priority List rank, project readiness, property owner match, and cost/benefit considerations. • The contract will be for an initial duration of 3 years, with 2 options to renew for a total maximum contract duration of 9 years.
