NARMS Cooperative Agreement Program to Strengthen Antibiotic Resistance Surveillance in Retail Food Specimens

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking applications for the NARMS Cooperative Agreement Program to strengthen antibiotic resistance surveillance in retail food specimens. The program aims to protect and promote public health by enhancing and sustaining antibiotic resistance surveillance within the NARMS program. The measurable outcomes of the program will be in alignment with the NARMS Objectives. • The program will improve the detection of antibiotic resistance among bacteria in food commodities. • The program will expand to new sites to expand the scope of sampling. • Eligible organizations include higher education institutions, nonprofits, for-profit organizations, local governments, and federal governments. • The estimated funding for the program is $5,000,000, with an award ceiling of $200,000.
