Description

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard intends to sole source the calibration and certified maintenance services for nine Automated Precision Inc. (API) Laser Tracker Systems. The systems include four R80 Radian Plus units, two R80 Radian units, and three R50 Radian units, as well as Unplanned Parts & Repair (UPP&R) support. The sole source justification is based on the fact that API is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and owns the proprietary data, software, diagnostic tools, and approved processes required to perform this certified work. Key points to consider: * The requirement is for calibration and certified maintenance services for API Laser Tracker Systems. * The systems are used for precision measurements in ship maintenance and repair. * API is the only company that can perform the certified work due to its proprietary processes and software. * The contract will be created for maintenance, repair, and calibration services for all nine API Laser Tracker Systems. * The systems have specific serial numbers and must be calibrated to meet NAVSEA METCAL requirements.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimation is based on the fact that the contract is for the calibration and maintenance of nine API Laser Tracker Systems, which are high-precision equipment. The cost of calibration and maintenance services for such equipment can be significant, and the fact that API is the only company that can perform the certified work due to its proprietary processes and software may also drive up the cost. Additionally, the contract may include additional services such as Unplanned Parts & Repair (UPP&R) support, which could further increase the budget. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the calibration and maintenance services required, the level of expertise and specialized equipment needed to perform the work, and the duration of the contract.
