Description

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is seeking to identify commercial organizations capable of providing updates to NUREG-1520, NUREG-2212, and Related Interim Staff Guidance. The updates will include developing new guidance sections for emerging and complex fuel cycle technologies, incorporating lessons learned from recent NRC licensing reviews, and improving document clarity and organization. The work will be performed remotely, and the NRC anticipates that the contract will be for a period of 12 months. The key areas of focus include technical and regulatory expertise, document structure and content updates, formatting and templates, and supporting materials for efficient reviews. • Technical and regulatory expertise: The contractor will need to have expertise in fuel cycle facility regulatory requirements, integrated safety analysis, and risk concepts. • Document structure and content updates: The contractor will need to be able to assess and improve the structural consistency of the NUREG chapters and create guidance and acceptance criteria for new and existing fuel cycle facilities. • Formatting and templates: The contractor will need to be able to develop high-quality templates for the NUREGs and create standardized concluding SER language. • Supporting materials for efficient reviews: The contractor will need to be able to develop SER sections or chapters that map acceptance criteria to supporting guidance.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

Based on the document, it is difficult to estimate the exact budget for this opportunity. However, considering the scope of work and the fact that the NRC is seeking a contractor to provide updates to NUREG-1520, NUREG-2212, and Related Interim Staff Guidance, the budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contract will be for a period of 12 months and will require a team of experts with technical and regulatory expertise. The budget could be higher or lower depending on the specific requirements of the contract and the qualifications of the contractor.
