The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) is seeking proposals for the development of advanced propulsion and power technologies for Naval aircraft. The solicitation includes five main areas of interest: Advanced Aircraft Electrical Power Systems, Fuel and Lubricant Technology, Aircraft Operational Energy Technology, Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), Condition Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+), Prognostics, Diagnostics, and Health Monitoring, and Advanced Propulsion System Technology. Proposals should focus on one or more of these areas and demonstrate potential contributions to Navy Propulsion, Power, and Energy objectives.
• The Advanced Aircraft Electrical Power Systems area seeks to develop technologies that improve power density, energy density, available power, efficiency, reliability, readiness, service life, environmental compliance, safety-of-flight, and ownership costs.
• The Fuel and Lubricant Technology area aims to advance the ability to increase the fleet's operational capability, reduce impacts of fuel and lubricant readiness drivers, and sustain and grow the Navy technical authority fuels and lubricants knowledge base.
• The Aircraft Operational Energy Technology area seeks to develop and demonstrate advanced aircraft technologies and/or methodologies that provide significant operational energy improvements.
• The Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), Condition Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+), Prognostics, Diagnostics, and Health Monitoring area aims to develop technologies that improve aircraft safety, reliability, maintainability, affordability, and availability.
• The Advanced Propulsion System Technology area seeks to develop advanced propulsion technologies that enhance engine performance and improve readiness, reduce acquisition, maintenance costs, and life cycle costs, and reduce aircraft noise, emissions, and fuel consumption.
