FY26 Bus Safety, Accessibility, and Innovation Notice of Funding Opportunity

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is announcing the opportunity to apply for competitive awards totaling up to $10 million in Public Transportation Innovation Program funds for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Bus Safety, Accessibility, and Innovation Research Program. The program aims to develop and prototype innovative and widely deployable concepts to make existing and new buses safer for their operators and vulnerable road users, and safer and more accessible for their passengers. Eligible applicants include transit vehicle manufacturers, transit vehicle component manufacturers, and other entities. The application deadline is September 28, 2026. • The program is funded under the Public Transportation Innovation Program (49 U.S.C. 5312). • The FTA will award up to two projects. • The estimated funding for the program is $10 million. • The program aims to improve bus safety, accessibility, and innovation. • Eligible applicants must have sufficient legal, financial, and technical capabilities to receive and administer Federal funds under this program.
