Description
Gallatin College at Montana State University is seeking to procure a HAAS 5‑axis trunnion‑style universal machining center through a sole‑source intent to award to Haas Factory Outlet. The solicitation is not a competitive RFP; however, other vendors may submit written comments demonstrating they can provide an equivalent machine that meets the detailed technical specifications. The equipment will replace or augment existing CNC assets used for instructional labs, requiring compatibility with existing HAAS and Southwest Industries controls.
• Required machine: Universal Machining Center‑400 with 5‑axis trunnion capability, minimum work envelope 17”×11”×13”, spindle speed ≥ 8,100 RPM, through‑spindle coolant, automated clamping, and broken‑tool detection.
• Must integrate with existing HAAS Next Generation and Southwest Industries KMX control systems for seamless instructional continuity.
• Submission window: July 29 2026 – August 10 2026 (sealed‑bid deadline). Vendors may submit capability statements via the e‑MACS portal; the university may still award to another vendor if an equivalent is proven.
