Description

The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking an Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified vendors capable of fabricating a complete Ion Exchange Column Assembly to support operations at the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR). The fabricated system will play a critical role in radiochemical process performance, shielding effectiveness, and facility reliability. The scope of work includes the fabrication of one complete Ion Exchange Column Assembly, including two stainless steel ion exchange columns, a shield box, access port covers, lead shot shielding material, and all mounting hardware and handling hardware. The vendor must also develop procedures for lead-shot and rigging handling of the completed assembly. • The assembly must meet strict nuclear, metallurgical, and structural performance standards. • The fabrication and associated documentation must comply with applicable codes and references, including ASME Section VIII Division 1(2023) and ANSI/AISC N690-18. • The vendor must have demonstrated experience with nuclear-grade fabrication and meet or exceed design conditions, including materials and components, pressure and temperature ratings, radiation shielding, and seismic requirements. • The subcontractor's quality program must be equivalent to ASME NQA-1. • The final assembly must be delivered to a specified Idaho Falls logistics facility with cleanliness requirements met, protective packaging, and clear labeling.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this project is difficult to estimate without more information on the complexity and scope of the fabrication work. However, based on the requirements and the fact that it's a nuclear-grade fabrication project, the budget could be substantial. A rough estimate could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million, considering the cost of materials, labor, and testing. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the vendor's experience, the level of complexity, and the requirements for quality assurance and testing.
