Animal and Veterinary Innovation Centers (U18)

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is soliciting applications for the establishment of Animal and Veterinary Innovation Centers (AVICs) to address priority areas for FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM). The AVICs will form long-term partnerships with academic research institutions to drive research in areas such as the development of interventions to prevent, control, or eliminate emerging zoonotic disease threats, intentional genomic alternations in animals, and products for minor species. The FDA intends to fund an estimate of up to 5 awards each funding cycle, with a maximum project period of 5 years and a budget of up to $2,000,000 in total costs. Key aspects of the project include: * Driving research to support the development of interventions to prevent, control, or eliminate emerging zoonotic disease threats * Driving research to support the development of intentional genomic alternations in animals * Driving research to support the development of products for minor species, minor uses in major species, and other unmet veterinary medical needs * Providing samples and data to FDA as requested * Participating in site visits and meetings as requested by FDA * Submitting quarterly reports and publications as requested by FDA
