Description
Binghamton University intends to purchase an ultrasound instrument. The ultrasound instrument will be used for ultrasound technology development and specialized biomedical research. The instrument needs to generate and receive broadband ultrasound waves and offers individual channel control for advanced beamforming. The instrument will support arbitrary waveform generation, and integration capability with high-power transmission. Also, the instrument will be fully programmable that can be used for advanced preclinical imaging, ultrasound engineering, and therapeutic ultrasound applications.
Capabilities and specifications:
1. Broad operating frequency range
a) Frequency ranges from 1 kHz to 30 MHz.
2. Customizable individual channel control and acquisition
a) At least contain 128 channels with independent per-channel amplitude (apodization), delay (phase), frequency, pulse duty cycle, polarity, and burst length control.
b) Supports complex beamforming strategies. System requires high delay resolution (2.8 ns) and arbitrary transmit waveform with 4096 steps.
c) Access raw rf data for customized imaging algorithms (e.g., shear wave reconstruction).
3. Programmable high-power transmit
a) Pulse voltage can reach up to 11.5 W per channel (at 50 Ohm Load).
4. Arbitrary waveform generation
a) True Arbitrary Transmit Waveform capability, through a high-performance Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and linear amplifier.
5. High performance imaging and visualization
a) High performance embedded PC system containing:
· High-performance CPU
· RAM: 64GB
· GPU: nVidia A4000 or faster
· PCIe Gen3, up to 10 Gbytes/sec
6. Programmability
a) The system and acquired raw data can be programmed using MATLAB, C#, C++ and Python in real-time.
7. System size
a) Compact ultrasound system, weight < 40Kg.
8. System upgrade
a) System can be upgraded to support additional capabilities and features (with support for multiplexing up to 1024 channels).
9. Support
a) Online training resources available for new users. Available technical support for customized scripting and hardware maintenance.
