Radiological Evaluation Assistance (REA)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is conducting market research to determine the availability and technical capability of commercial organizations to provide independent technical assistance in performing document reviews, radiological surveys, and special projects related to non-power/power nuclear reactor, fuel facility, uranium recovery, and materials facilities undergoing decommissioning. The NRC is seeking organizations with expertise in health physics and radiochemistry, including design and conduct of radiological surveys, sample preparation and collection, and technical knowledge of survey instrumentation. • Document reviews: performing technical reviews of decommissioning documents • Radiological surveys: designing and conducting radiological surveys in accordance with agency guidance • In-process evaluations and confirmatory survey inspections: assisting with on-site evaluations and inspections • Special projects: providing technical assistance on special projects related to radiological health and safety The NRC is looking for organizations with no potential for organizational conflicts of interest and the ability to perform the principal components of the work listed.
