Legal Services - Foreclosure and Eviction

The Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation (RIHousing) dba Mortgage Servicing Solutions (MSS) is seeking proposals from qualified law firms to provide legal services for foreclosure and eviction matters in the State of Maine. The selected firm will be engaged for a period of three years, with the option to renew. The scope of work includes representation of MSS and the Maine State Housing Authority (MSHA) in foreclosure actions, post-foreclosure sale closings, and eviction matters. The firm will also be required to perform searches, obtain title searches, and provide advice on legislation and regulatory issues. Key aspects of the job include: • Foreclosure representation, including obtaining judgments and attending foreclosure sales • Post-foreclosure sale closings, including drafting and recording closing documents • Eviction representation, including drafting and serving notices to quit and filing complaints • Monitoring and rendering advice on legislation, changes in law, and regulatory issues • Performing searches and obtaining title searches The ideal firm will have experience in mortgage lender representation, foreclosure, and eviction matters, as well as a strong understanding of FHA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac guidelines.
