Harrisburg Road Shared Use Paths (SUPs)

The City of Charlotte is planning a multi‑segment improvement of Harrisburg Road to create a pedestrian‑oriented corridor. The project will install shared‑use paths, upgrade drainage, install curb and gutter, add mid‑block pedestrian crossings, and perform milling and overlay of asphalt across several intersections. The scope includes design‑build construction activities, required bonding, and insurance coverage, with a total estimated value between $5 million and $9.9 million. • Installation of shared‑use pathways linking key streets and neighborhoods. • Comprehensive roadway upgrades: drainage, curb‑gutter, milling/overlay, and new pedestrian crossings. • Requirement for bid, payment, and performance bonds as well as standard construction insurance (general liability, automobile, workers’ comp, and construction bonds). • Project will be managed by the City’s Department of General Services – Construction and will be awarded on a “through completion” basis.
