Description:
The Leading by Example Clean Energy Grants for State Entities - Feasibility Studies program provides financial support for state entities to conduct feasibility studies on clean energy technologies and strategies. The program aims to support the development and installation of clean energy projects that reduce or eliminate onsite fossil fuel combustion, reduce energy use, and lower energy costs. Eligible state entities include executive branch agencies, state institutions of higher education, and quasi-public authorities. The program will award grants of up to $150,000 per study, with a total of $1,000,000 available. Key aspects of the program include: • Clean energy feasibility studies may investigate various technology, equipment, and/or material options designed to reduce or eliminate the use of onsite fossil fuels, reduce energy use and/or costs, and advance the development and installation of clean and renewable energy resources. • Studies may look at combinations of strategies/technologies, including renewable thermal applications, innovative solar applications, combined heat and power systems, energy resilience, energy storage, and long-range building decarbonization studies. • Project timelines: feasibility study grant applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with a deadline of June 30, 2027, or until funding is no longer available. • Evaluation criteria: projects will be evaluated based on their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support resilience, and advance clean energy goals.
