Description

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is procuring laboratory analytical services to test water and soil samples collected statewide. The prime contractor must perform all analyses in its own ELAP‑accredited laboratory (Fields 108 & 109) or an approved subcontractor, follow EPA, Standard Methods, or other DWR‑approved methods, and provide a full QA/QC program with performance‑evaluation results. Samples will be shipped from DWR field offices and sites; the contractor is responsible for pickup, shipping, chain‑of‑custody, and electronic reporting of results within 30 calendar days. The contract is for a two‑year term with a one‑year renewal option, and DVBE participation is mandatory.

Contract value

$2,500,000

The RFP provides per‑sample rates ranging from roughly $200 to $365. No total sample volume is disclosed, but a typical state‑wide water‑resource laboratory contract of this scope often processes several thousand samples annually. Assuming an average rate of $275 per sample and an estimated 4,500 samples per year (a modest mid‑range volume for a statewide program), the annual cost would be about $1.24 million. Over the base two‑year term, the contract value would therefore be roughly $2.5 million. Including a potential one‑year renewal at similar rates, the total possible value approaches $3.8 million. Given the lack of exact volume, a conservative ball‑park estimate for the awarded contract is therefore in the $2‑3 million range.
