Port of Entry Platform and Portable Scales

The Colorado State Patrol Port of Entry Section is seeking to purchase two NTEP-Certified portable scales: one dual-platform scale and one wheel-load hand weigher. The scales must be wireless, low-profile, and use commercially available power sources. The Intercomp LTR788 Dual Platform Scale and the Intercomp 788 wireless Wheel Load Handheld scale meet the specified requirements. The Port of Entry requires versatile scales that can be used for an extended period, are fiscally responsible, and represent a long-term investment. The scales will enhance static roadside enforcement of commercial vehicle weight and safety, giving Port of Entry Officers accurate and reliable tools to assess compliance with Gross Vehicle Weight limits. • The scales must support both road and officer safety. • They must enable accurate roadside enforcement of regulations over prolonged periods. • They must be compatible with existing technology already in use by the Port of Entry. • They must use commercially available, non-proprietary, removable, and rechargeable power sources. • They must have an option to switch to a wired configuration. • They must feature integrated charging systems and allow progressive in-field battery recharging, ideally with solar charging panels.
