Colisure Reagents - IDEXX Distribution, Inc.

The County of Hawaii, Department of Water Supply, is seeking to purchase Colisure reagents and vessels from IDEXX Distribution, Inc. for the purpose of detecting Total Coliforms and E. coli in drinking water samples. The Colisure reagents and vessels are used together to provide rapid identification of the presence of these bacteria. The Department is requesting sole source approval for this purchase, as IDEXX is the sole supplier of these products to the Water Market. The key features of the Colisure reagents and vessels include: * Defined Substrate Technology nutrient indicators and enzymes to detect Total Coliforms and E. coli * Eliminates media preparation and hands-on QC takes one minute * Interpretation is easy with distinct color changes and fluorescence * The Idexx vessel is sterile, has a tamper seal to protect from contamination, has a fill line, and is high-clarity to easily view color and fluorescence end points * The vessels have a long shelf life and equipment cost is 95% less than media filtration The Department requires these unique features because the Microbiology Laboratory is only certified to use Method SM9215E Colisure P/A for compliance 24-hour qualitative Total Coliform and E. coli testing.
