Bunker Gear Wash

The City of Thornton is seeking a qualified vendor to provide comprehensive cleaning, inspection, decontamination, and repair services for its fire department’s structural bunker gear in accordance with NFPA 1850‑2026 (formerly NFPA 1851). The work includes routine bi‑annual cleaning of each gear ensemble, additional incident‑driven decontamination, detailed NFPA‑compliant inspections, minor and advanced repairs, and full documentation of service history. Turn‑around times are tight (gear must be returned within four days of off‑shift for routine service) and the contract is initially one year with the possibility of up to five one‑year renewals. • Scope: Advanced cleaning, NFPA‑standard inspection, minor repairs (patches, zippers, reflective stripping) and advanced repairs, plus decontamination of fire‑fighter turnout gear. • Volume: Approximately two sets per firefighter cleaned annually (estimated 300‑400 sets) plus ~320 incident‑driven cleanings per year. • Delivery: Vendor‑managed pickup/drop‑off at two fire stations (FOB destination) or on‑site mobile cleaning; must provide electronic service reports and maintain a chain‑of‑custody system.
