The university requires a supplier that can provide high product quality, reliable production, supply, and delivery performance, competitive pricing, excellent customer service, and strict compliance with all applicable requirements. The supplier must also demonstrate the ability to maintain a well-stocked inventory, operate a robust stocking program, and ensure consistent supply levels. • The university prefers to partner with a supplier located within a 50-mile radius of Iowa City to ensure convenience and rapid response for emergent needs. • The supplier must provide a full catalog of steel products and a percentage markup from market price. • The university anticipates placing relatively small but frequent orders for steel, with occasional larger bulk orders. • The supplier must be able to respond to changes in demand, consumption trends, or forecasts. • The university requires products to be packaged in bundles not exceeding 5,000 lbs, with factory-applied machine oil protection, and delivered within a 1-2 day lead time or less.
