FY26 USAFA Filter Wheels - Notice of Intent to Sole Source

The US Air Force Academy intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed-price contract to Diffraction Limited, Inc. for the procurement of filter wheels. The filter wheels are required for the Falcon Telescope Network, a global network of telescopes. The Government has determined that Diffraction Limited is the only source capable of meeting the critical requirements due to standardization and interoperability, proprietary design and compatibility, and software and automation. The requirement includes: • SBIG AFW Filter Wheel 50mm square 5mm tall (6 units) • SBIG USB to Filter Wheel Adapter (3 units) • Dual AFW Filter Wheel Adapter (3 units) Interested concerns may submit a capability statement to show clear and convincing evidence that competition of this requirement would be advantageous to the Government.
