Description
The City of Williamsburg is seeking proposals for a temporary public art installation to be displayed in Bicentennial Park. The installation should be a medium- to large-scale, light-based or illuminated artwork that encourages community interaction and visitation during afternoon and evening hours. The project goals include activating the park, encouraging community interaction, increasing visitation, creating a visually distinctive experience, and providing an accessible experience for a broad audience. The selected installation will be displayed from early October to mid-November 2026.
• The installation may incorporate LED lighting, projection mapping, motion sensors, or other interactive components.
• Auditory elements must comply with the City's noise ordinance.
• The installation may be an existing work or custom-designed, but concepts that can be implemented efficiently are strongly encouraged.
• Special consideration may be given to proposals that encourage coordination and/or collaboration with An Occasion for the Arts (AOFTA), a premier Williamsburg event.
