Courier Service for Newborn Screening Samples

The Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a vendor to provide courier services for newborn screening samples. The vendor will be responsible for transporting and delivering newborn screening specimens and other clinical and/or environmental specimens from Kentucky birthing hospitals and health departments to the Kentucky Division of Laboratory Services in Frankfort, Kentucky. The contract will be for an initial period of one year, with the option to extend for four additional two-year periods. The vendor must comply with all applicable requirements of HIPAA and maintain a controlled environment for the specimens. • The vendor must have uniform and/or badge identifying themselves as the courier. • The vendor must have a plan in place for pick-up and delivery of specimens. • The vendor must provide electronic tracking of arrival and documentation of sample pickup. • The vendor must comply with all applicable requirements of HIPAA. • The vendor must maintain a controlled environment for the specimens.
