Aircraft Ladders

The Wisconsin Air National Guard at Truax Field in Madison, WI is seeking sources capable and willing to provide five portable ladders to ensure safe access to the top of aircraft. The ladders must be self-supporting and stable, with a passthrough guardrail system or a walkthrough extension, enabling the user to safely climb one side of the ladder and step off the top platform onto the aircraft on the other side of the ladder. The ladders must comply with ANSI, OSHA, United States Air Force, and other applicable safety standards and testing requirements for portable ladders and fall protection. • The ladders should allow work from the top, providing pass-through access to other working levels. • The working platform height must allow for a level step or minimal step-up/step-down distance to and from the wing/cockpit of an F35. • A Type I, IA, or IAA duty rating is necessary. • The guardrail system or walkthrough extension should be detachable to enable the entire ladder unit to be stored in equipment travel containers. • Ladders must have slip-resistant bases/feet and rungs. • The base should feature wheels to allow easy repositioning/moving of the ladder, with a locking device to prevent accidental movement during use. • A locking spreader (or similar device) is required to prevent the accidental collapse or folding of the ladder. • The ladder must have a broad base which may include stabilizers to prevent accidental tipping or collapse. • Ladders must be constructed of lightweight fiberglass material. • Ladders and working platforms should be designed and composed of materials that minimize the possibility of damage to the aircraft if the ladder were to accidentally strike the aircraft.
