Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is soliciting a contractor to provide comprehensive television distribution services for its Hines campus in Milwaukee, WI. The work includes design, installation, labeling, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of approximately 700 television cable drops across multiple VA buildings (including the Fisher House), with a base‑year contract plus four optional one‑year extensions. The contractor must also supply equipment, perform 24/7 on‑site support, conduct semi‑annual inspections, and handle all associated construction activities such as conduit, fire‑stopping, and restoration. • Install and terminate ~700 TV drops (estimated 500 TVs currently in service) across buildings 200, 228, 1, 113, 128, 217, 221, and Fisher House. • Provide labeling of all installed cabling and deliver updated as‑built drawings. • Supply, mount, and configure televisions, converters, amplifiers, splitters, and related equipment. • Perform all required core drilling, conduit installation, fire‑stopping, patch‑and‑paint, and ceiling‑tile replacement. • Offer 24‑hour, 7‑day on‑site response capability and semi‑annual preventive‑maintenance visits with written inspection reports. • Include a fixed allowance for unforeseen conditions (hard‑lid ceilings, asbestos, infection‑control restrictions, etc.). • Coordinate all work with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and adhere to VA infection‑control and access procedures. • Provide ongoing service support, parts replacement, and media scanning for biomedical engineering as needed. • Contract term: 1‑year base period starting September 1 2026, with up to four additional one‑year options.

Budget estimate

$2,000,000 – $5,000,000

Based on the scope (design, installation of ~700 TV drops, equipment procurement, labeling, documentation, 24/7 support, and multi‑year service), a typical VA TV‑distribution contract of this size ranges from low‑mid single‑digit millions to high single‑digit millions of dollars. Assuming $2,500‑$3,500 per drop for installation and equipment, plus $1‑$2 million per year for ongoing support and maintenance, the total contract value over five years is estimated between $2 million and $5 million. Factors influencing the final amount include exact equipment specifications, site‑specific construction challenges (asbestos, fire‑rated penetrations), and the allowance for unforeseen conditions.
