Substation Transformer Maintenance & Repair Services

The City of Ames Electric Services Department is seeking bids from qualified vendors for substation transformer maintenance and repair services. The scope of work includes DA6T2 Load Tap Changer (LTC) repair and "U" bushing replacement. The work is to be scheduled during the months of May-June or September-November of 2026. The City of Ames will provide a clean and safe work site, de-energized transformer and line breaker, and unlimited access to the site. The contractor will be responsible for mobilization, labor, parts, and equipment to perform the required work. • The work includes pre-testing the transformer, inspecting and replacing OLTC components, replacing 3 - 69kV "U" Type bushings, and re-gasketing all components. • The contractor will also be responsible for post-testing, including power factor testing and TTR on all OLTC positions. • The contractor must provide all testing reports and results to the City of Ames within 14 days of demobilization. • A kick-off meeting will be held after award to confirm the project scope, schedule, deliverables, and coordination requirements.
