Pyrophoric Device Demonstration

The Joint Services (Navy, Air Force, & Army) requires a special material decoy (SMD) countermeasure to use independently or in conjunction with onboard countermeasures. The current SMD (pyrophoric) countermeasures were developed and produced by Alloy Surfaces, which has intellectual proprietary rights to the decoys. Alloy surfaces have decided to close their business, which leaves the DoW without a producer of pyrophoric countermeasures. The key aspects of this opportunity include: • Developing a new source for pyrophoric countermeasure capability • Producing a special material decoy (SMD) countermeasure • Using the countermeasure independently or in conjunction with onboard countermeasures
