Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source to Utah Parent Center

The Canyons School District Department of Purchasing intends to award a sole source contract to the Utah Parent Center to provide parent consulting services to support families of students with disabilities. The Utah Parent Center's mission is to help parents help their children, youth, and young adults with disabilities to live included, productive lives as members of the community. The proposed contract will be valid from July 10, 2026, through June 30, 2031. The Utah Parent Center will provide training, information, referrals, and support to parents and school professionals. Some key aspects of the job include: • Supporting better understanding and application of relevant federal regulations for Section 504 and IEPs • Addressing challenges associated with behavior and mental health-related disabilities • Training parents to be partners in the IEP process • Providing accurate training, information, and resources to parents and by extension, school professionals • Working to reduce escalations, as well as costly and time-intensive dispute resolution issues by utilizing a collaborative approach and strengthening relationships between the parent community and the professionals that serve them
