Annual Contract for Sale of Surplus Transformers

The City of Ames is soliciting bids from qualified vendors for an annual contract for the sale of surplus transformers from the Electric Department. The transformers are currently stored at 2208 Edison in Ames, Iowa, and the successful bidder will be responsible for picking up, transporting, and disposing of the transformers. The City of Ames has tested the transformers for toxic chemicals in the insulating oils, and the test results are available for review at the Electric Distribution Department. Bidders may also retest the transformers at their own expense. The contract will include a qualification statement, cover letter, and completion of the Utility bid form. Key points to consider: • The City of Ames reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. • The successful bidder will be required to meet all necessary State and Federal Permits for hauling salvage, disposal, or rebuild. • The bidder will be required to provide an EPA Facility Number and to indicate their general qualifications to handle rebuild and/or to dispose of the material involved. • Payment is due within thirty calendar days of receipt of material from 2208 Edison.
