Guadalupe Light Rail Vehicle Wash Improvements

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is issuing an Invitation for Bids (IFB) to replace the existing Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) wash system at its Guadalupe Division (Building F). The scope includes demolition of the current wash equipment, removal of associated track and concrete, installation of a new hybrid drive‑through/gantry wash system, a prefabricated canopy, new concrete slabs, wastewater collection trench, electrical power and control upgrades, plumbing modifications, and associated structural work. Work must be performed within an active rail yard, adhering to strict safety, restricted‑access, and rail‑operation constraints, and requires pre‑qualification approval before bidding. The contractor will be responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, engineering submittals, testing, and coordination with VTA’s weekly track‑allocation meetings. • Remove existing LRV wash equipment, associated transformers, panels, and plumbing. • Install new high‑pressure, reverse‑osmosis, brush‑module wash equipment and control systems. • Construct a new canopy structure and concrete foundations/trenches for wastewater collection. • Perform selective demolition, track removal/re‑installation, and concrete work. • Provide new electrical distribution (transformer, panelboards, lighting, grounding) and plumbing (water, wastewater, softener). • Conduct extensive testing (track‑to‑earth resistance, rail continuity) and submit all required shop drawings, product data, and samples. • Comply with VTA safety training, restricted‑access permitting, and weekly coordination meetings.
