One-Two SentencesThe George Watts Hill Alumni Center, which is the home ofCarolina Alumni, UNC's alumni association, occupies aunique position within the University of North Carolinacampus. Located near Kenan Memorial Stadium on Stadium drivein the center of campus, the facility serves as both agathering place for alumni and a gateway for visitorsexperiencing Carolina for the first time. Over the years,the building has hosted countless alumni events,celebrations, and campus milestones, establishing it as animportant hub for connection and community. As theUniversity continues to expand engagement with alumni,prospective students, and visitors, there is the opportunityto evolve the Alumni Center into a more welcoming andvisible front door to campus as well as enable more active,multi-functional building utilization.This project envisions a comprehensive renovation of theAlumni Center and the Carolina Club (home of a privaterestaurant, bar, ballroom, & event space) both totalingapproximately 68,750-sf, and a new Addition of approximately27,500-sf to house the UNC Visitors Center and UNCAdmissions Offices, which combined will be known as the UNCWelcome Center.At this time, it is expected that the construction effortwill be performed by a Construction Manager at Risk (CMR),to be selected via public advertisement (SCO) process at alater date.This capital improvement project has current Authority of$5.5-m for Advance Planning services only.
