Request for Proposals for Special Counsel for Vehicle Forfeiture Proceedings

The Scope of Services (“Scope”) has been established for the purpose of achieving and implementing program goals and objectives. Although the Scope is intended to serve as a reference in the preparation of the proposal, forthcoming proposals may offer additional services which support the goals of this RFP. The successful proposer will provide special counsel services to the County in connection with vehicle forfeiture proceedings pursuant to Section 8-7.0 of the Nassau County Administrative Code. Among other things, with regard to the vehicle forfeiture proceedings, the selected firm will draft summons and complaints; perform motion practice; make court appearances; negotiate settlements (subject to County Attorney approval); At the request of the County, proposer will coordinate with an auctioneer to auction any vehicles that have been obtained through a forfeiture proceeding; Provide related necessary legal services to fully represent the County in vehicle forfeiture proceedings.
