Mission Spain Public Diplomacy 2022 Annual Program Statement

The U.S. Mission to Spain's Public Diplomacy Section (PD Spain) is seeking proposals for creative and engaging projects that align with their main objectives, which include promoting citizen participation in the fight against the climate crisis, ensuring Spanish and Andorran students know the United States as a destination for training and learning English, promoting security and defense alliances between the US and Spain, and communicating the importance of Spain's role in NATO. The projects can take various forms, including academic competitions, cross-border exchanges, conferences, workshops, courses, and online projects. All programs must promote diversity and inclusion, and include an American element, such as a partnership between Spanish/Andorran and American organizations. The project timelines should start no earlier than December 1, 2021, and no later than September 30, 2022, with all activities completed by December 2023. Some key areas of focus for the projects include: • Promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and STEM to increase economic opportunities for young people • Increasing knowledge about doing business in the US and highlighting Spain's role in the global digital economy • Expanding media literacy and supporting media education programs • Communicating about common values shared between the US, Spain, and the EU, and promoting respect for human rights and democracy • Encouraging collaboration between Spanish/Andorran and American organizations that share the defense of human rights • Exploring topics such as the rights of the LGBTQI+ community, racism, sexism, and the rights of people with disabilities
