Description

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) for the Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) Program. The program aims to prevent sexual violence perpetration and victimization by providing funding to eligible entities to implement and evaluate primary prevention strategies. The RPE program focuses on stopping violence before it occurs, reducing risk factors, and enhancing protective factors. The program is authorized through the Violence Against Women Act and has a total of $444,986 available for subgrants. The RFA seeks applications from non-federal entities, including non-profit organizations, to develop and implement comprehensive prevention strategies using a public health approach. Some of the key activities and requirements for the program include: * Developing and implementing an approach to improve partner coordination within the communities served * Increasing the use of data for selection of focus populations and prevention approaches * Working with the MS RPE Evaluation Team to identify state-level indicators and data sources * Tracking and reporting on indicators annually * Developing plans for the implementation of community and societal-level prevention strategies * Increasing tracking of selected risk and protective factors that affect sexual violence. Eligible applicants must be familiar with and able to meet the programmatic requirements as a condition of eligibility to submit an application and as a condition of receipt of subgrant funds.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $150,000

Based on the total available funds for subgrants, which is $422,737, and considering that the number of organizations receiving the grant funds are limited, with a maximum of 6 organizations, the budget range for this opportunity could be between $50,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on the scope and complexity of the proposed project. The actual budget amount will depend on the applications received, the evaluation process, and the discretion of the Mississippi State Department of Health.
