Medical and Pharmacy Services for Norfolk Jail Inmates

The City of Norfolk is seeking a qualified company to provide medical and pharmacy services to inmates at the Norfolk Jail. The services include on-site medical services, specialty providers, dental services, mental health care, and telehealth services. The contractor will be responsible for providing medically necessary services, maintaining accreditation, and establishing utilization management programs. The contractor will also be required to provide emergency medical services, respond to requests for medical treatment, and establish policies and procedures for handling medical emergencies. • The contractor must maintain National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) accreditation for the on-site medical services program. • The contractor must establish a utilization management program for the review and analysis of on-site medical services and off-site referrals. • The contractor must provide medically necessary health services to the female inmate population, including sexually transmitted disease screening and pap smears. • The contractor must establish policies and procedures for the care and handling of inmates diagnosed with chronic illnesses or infectious diseases. • The contractor must provide ongoing structured education on infectious diseases to healthcare staff and Jail staff.
